Therapeutic Massage

Injuries rarely only affect the part of the body that is in pain. Postural distortions and compensating movements cause ripple effects that can result in chronic pain and increase the likelihood of future injury. Because these effects are often built up over months or years, a single session on a massage table is unlikely to have a long-term effect on resolving chronic pain.
In order to maximize the therapeutic effect of massage, I work closely with my clients to develop massage treatment plans that address the issue at the source, and work progressively deeper with each session to treat the source of the pain, not just symptoms.
• When designing a therapeutic treatment plan, I begin by first conducting a thorough pre-massage interview with each client designed to provide a complete picture of the nature of your injury or pain, and build a framework for how to proceed.
• This collaborative interview is followed by a 100-120 minute full-body massage that allows me to begin treatment while observing the nature of your injury or pain and exploring which massage techniques your body will best benefit from.
• After treatment, we will conduct a brief followup interview to gather your feedback about the effectiveness of the treatment. This, combined with our pre-interview information and my own professional observations, will allow us to develop a collaborative treatment plan to help your body recover and improve.
